This project is very experimental - how things work out will depend on what we come across and our contacts, although there are some threads we aim to follow throughout. I don't fancy our chances of getting as far south as Nicaragua in the short time that we have, but yes the swing to the left spearheaded by Chavez and Morales is fascinating and apparent throughout the region, and a trend we will of course bear in mind. It has, however, been copiously documented by the mainstream press so we'll be looking for new angles to that story...... It reads a bit like a travel documentary with a social conscience, but lacking in any really solid theme. Is there a thread of a story that the journalists can use that will link these different countries, apart from just geography. Otherwise one defined theme per country might work. They're kicking out the Neo Liberals like the World Bank and replacing the loans with Chavez cash - ie without the NL strings.
