as there is a dreadful brawl at Comments on an innocuous, anodyne, post of mine.

Probably not yours, but, a little typo in quoted text
Point 3 of the 10-point test:
“from the fact that every of a libel is a new libel, and each publisher is ”

every (publication) is a new libel?

Always irked me that it didn’t get more play, but I think I was just too early thinking about the issue.

Cheers, Mike, but as I understand it the Reynolds Defence has it’s own problems – the biggest that by giving time to respond the subject has a time window to take alternative action (injunctions etc).

In the case of the Cherie Blair nanny serialisation, they were able to knock-up a judge in a very small number of hours, iirc.

This is what Shillings say:

“If a journalist calls, challenge their ability to meet each point on the list. This will help you establish whether they have done their research if you feel they have’nt satisfied a point, challenge them to alter, delay or stop the story. Then contact Schillings, as a letter from us will go straight to the newspapers’ legal department and help prevent publication.”
